Rep. Huizenga breaks ground for new Walker job provider
RELEASE|June 23, 2021

State Rep. Mark Huizenga on Monday joined with the Walker community to break ground for a forthcoming Speedrack Products Group manufacturing facility on Northridge Drive NW.

“When I served as mayor of Walker, I worked with our community to install roads and other essential infrastructure for future business growth in the area, and Speedrack Products Group is benefiting from the developments in this part of town,” said Huizenga, of Walker. “The Speedrack facility will provide dozens of new jobs right here in Walker, as we continue to attract new businesses and families to our Kent County communities.”

Speedrack Products Group manufactures storage systems, such as pallet racks. The company originated in Illinois in 1954, and it has been headquartered in Sparta, Michigan, since 1989. In addition to the headquarters, Speedrack already operates two manufacturing facilities in southern Michigan, with roughly 300 employees between the three locations.

The Walker project — a 275,000-square-foot facility — is expected to employ 164 people. Speedrack will be investing nearly $65 million to construct the facility.
